This course, Innovation and Engineering Design, is meant to provide ECE students, and engineering students from around the college, with the opportunity to engage in the engineering design process. The early part of the course focuses on study of the design process and then transitions to active learning through design of an actual project. As in our sister course, ECE 445, students are pushed to take ownership of their work in the course. They choose their own projects from among many proposed by mentors from within and without the University, or simply generate their own ideas. Students learn the engineering design process then through a series of peer and instructor-reviews. Iteration is stressed as students will make multiple refinements of their work.

In the end, we expect students to finish this course ready to take on real projects with confidence and competence.
