Course description

The objectives of the course are to introduce the most important remote imaging formation modalities and show how the 2D Fourier transform repeatedly plays a major role in understanding them. The next major goal is to abstractly introduce the notion of an ill-posed inverse problem, talk about the issues of uniqueness and stability, introduce regularization techniques and then apply it to a selection of problems introduce in the first part. Here we will touch upon sparsity, compressive sensing, and phase retrieval.
