UIUC Speech Technology Seminar, October 14, 2019
At the seminar on October 14, we will assemble a PC with a GPU. This exercise has two objectives:
- First, the resulting PC will be available for projects related to the NSF grant that is paying for it (unfortunately, NSF does not allow us to make the computer available for other research).
- Second, and perhaps most important, the goal is for you to learn how to put together your own supercomputer on a budget. This particular supercomputer cost about $2000, but it's possible to make your own supercomputer for prices ranging between $1000 and $5000 or more, depending on what type of GPU you buy, and how many of them.
