212 Extra Materials
- Course Formula Sheet
- Here is the Spring 2012 formula sheet
that will be provided with every exam. Please note: when you are
working old exams for practice, you may see old versions of the
formula sheet with a somewhat different formula collection.
The sheet linked above is the one you will have available,
not the old versions. Also, the material
covered on each "hour exam" (they are actually 90 minutes)
is given on the Course Syllabus
page, and may not always match what was done in the past.
- PDFs of printed lecture slides
- If you have a tablet PC and would like to take notes on an
electronic copy of the lecture slides, you can find the PPT
files here:

These are the "barebones" versions that are available in
hardcopy from the bookstore.
- Gaussian Survival screencasts
- Some extra help with applying Gauss' Law to the calculation of
electric fields:
-
Part 1:
Just use the results
-
Part 2:
The magic interior of an empty shell
-
Part 3:
Superposition, as always
Sorry about the quality ... this is my first screencasting attempt.
I fixed the audio quality after Part 1, but the audio-video
sync is a bit off for all of them, not sure why. I hacked the audio
tracks to reduce the problem, and it mostly worked.
I hope they're understandable with a bit of mental compensation
for the sync issue.
I also had a part 4 all done, then Windows Crashed, Of Course.
- Interactive Simulations of E&M
- Various simulations are linked to from the lecture slides.
They are great to play with so you can gain intuition about electromagnetic
systems!
