Here is a list of typos and errors from "Mathematics for Physics" We thank the many people who have pointed them out. p 4: In eq 1.10. Should contain 2 \pi's not 4\pi's in both equations. p7: In eq 1.21 should be \rho in the integral, not m. p 11: After eq 1.41 Should be "we eliminate the constraint force, the tension,.. " (not "and the tension" to which the copy editor changed it without us noticing) p102: A more serious error! Eq 4.12 is quite incorrect. It should be replaced by $$ L(t) =U(t)L(0) U^{-1}(t), \quad \frac {dU}{dt}= PU $$ p123: In eq 4.111 should also have \varphi'(-L/2)= \varphi'(L/2) (we need both slope and value for 2nd order ODE) p123: In eq 4.113 the condition should be x \in [-L/2,L/2) (so as to exclude x-x'=L) p. 347: In eq. (10.2): there should be no prime on the e_{\mu} p. 383: In the second paragraph of "Frobenius' theorem": "N passing thRough the original point", the 'R' is missing p. 384: In eq. (11.26): "i = 1 \leq i \leq m", the "i = " shouldn't be there p. 388: In fig 11.6: in the "\eps L_X Y" the 'L' doesn't have the script font it has in the text p. 394: Two lines above Excercise (11.7), the 'i_x' should be 'i_X' p406 For our conventions with the subscripts on the connection, eq 11.125 should read $$ {T^\lambda}_{\mu \nu} = {\Gamma^\lambda}_{ \nu\mu}-{\Gamma^\lambda}_{\mu \nu} $$ p407: Exercise 11.12. The last term in the second equation should read $$ -{\Gamma^\nu}_{\beta \mu} g_{\alpha nu} $$ p407: Exercise 11.14 The result is true for *any* metric compatible connection, not just the Riemann one. p. 419: Above eq. (12.11) the "x_1 = x(y_1, y_2)" should be "x_1 = x_1(y_1, y_2)" p 425: In eq. (12.32). Too much lazy cutting at pasting. The last x in the partials should be x^{\mu_p} and the the first dx should be dx^{\mu_1} p457 figure 15.3 has the labels on the vertices irrecoverably corrupted. p510: Eq 14.14 has extra comme within equation. Delete it. p530, intro para. line 6 "together" is missing its "e". p 532 line 1. A_{ij}= - A_{ji} (the indices are not interchanged in the printed version). p 543: In Ex 15.5 the ref to Ch3 should be ch 12. p 638: In item (i) we should have if $f(z)$ is zero at $z=a$, $f(z) =(z-a)^m \varphi(z)$. p701: Ex 18.8. The answer I_2 has the wrong sign. p742: Ex 19.6 Equation should be dY/dz not dY/dx.
