Homework

Homework is a very important part of this course and will be assigned approximately weekly.

Homework sets will usually be assigned on Wednesday of each week.

Approximately 10 homework assignments. The homework with the lowest score will be dropped in the calculation of the final grade.

Homework sets should be placed in the 570 homework box (located on the north side of Loomis Lab, between rooms 267 and 271 LLP) by 5:00pm on the day of the due date.

Unless a valid, verifiable excuse is given, homework sets which are submitted late will receive a 10% penalty.
Grading
Your grade will be based on your performance on the homework assignments (50 percent), a term paper (20 percent), and a final exam (30 percent).
You can access your grades on the Gradebook using your University NetID and NetID Password.
Term-Paper

You can pick any subject of current research in nuclear or particle physics, and write a report summarizing the current status of this subject.

A list of possible subjects will be provided. You are encouraged to come up with your own choice of any (reasonable) subject. The instructor will assist you to find the relevant literature for your term-paper.

The term-paper is due by the last day of the class .
Exams
Only final Exam! TBA
Academic Integrity
You may discuss the homeowork problems with your classmates, but each student is required to provide his/her own solutions. No collaboration is allowed though for the Final Exam.
