Experimental Setup

A water drop was deposited on a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate that could be vibrated horizontally and vertically. The water drop of radius 1.3 mm had a vertical resonant frequency of 96 Hz and a horizontal resonant frequency of 46 Hz. Additionally, the wetting angle of the water drop was 96° and the hysterisis was measured to be 19°. Mechanical coupling between the horizontal and vertical vibrations was reduced to approximately 5%.
