We will use three main textbooks for this course and you should make sure that you have access to at least one of them: All books listed below are available for (online) purchase from the Illini Union bookstore. 

Schwartz, Quantum Field Theory and the Standard Model
Peskin and Schroeder, An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory
Halzen and Martin, , Quarks and Leptons: An Introductory Course in Modern Physics

The following books do not require any knowledge of quantum field theory, and perform many of the same calculations as Schwartz using reasoning motivated by quantum mechanics.

Peskin, Concepts of Elementary Particle Physics
