End-of-semester Announcements

Final exams have been processed. The raw mean for the A2 exam (Tuesday, Dec. 17) was 68.3. The raw mean for the A1 exam (Friday, Dec. 20) was 70.0. Both exams were scaled to a mean of 76.

Wednesday, Dec. 11 (Lect. 29), Prof. Chemla will give an in-class review session. Here is a pdf of the review. A powerpoint version of the slides can be found on the course schedule page. 

There will be Extra office hours Thursday, Dec. 12 (reading day) and Sunday, Dec. 15. Please check the office hour page for updates. 

The final exam is cumulative and will cover the entire semester's material evenly. Final exams are scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17, 7-10pm (A2) and Friday, Dec. 20, 8-11am (A1).

Extra practice problems: There is an optional problem set #14 on byteshelf to help you study for late semester material (Nuclear physics & Relativity). In addition, extra multiple-choice practice problems covering the entire semester are available here. 

 

UPDATED FORMULA SHEET: The equation "f = + R/2" for curved mirrors was added to the course formula sheet. As mentioned previously, the following errors were also corrected: On the fourth line of equations, "+Wyou" should be corrected to "-Wyou". On the fifth line of equations, "V=E/d" should be "V=Ed". A corrected, up-to-date formula sheet can be found here.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Wireless communication devices such as cell phones, laptops, etc. cannot be used as calculators on assessments (ex: discussion quizzes or exams) in Phys. 102. Students must use a calculator.

i>clickers

We will be using i>clickers in every lecture. You can use either the older v1 or the newer v2 i>clickers. If you have not already done so, please register your clicker by visiting https://my.physics.illinois.edu/iclicker/. Having another student answer questions using your clicker is considered cheating.

Excused Absences

The only course components eligible to be issued a grade of EX are discussions, labs and exams (except for the final). Please submit your excused absence no later than 10 business days from your absence via the Excused Absences application. For more information, please read the course description page.
