Exam 1 Preparation and Information
CBTF Introductory Activity: This activity is required.
We have an introductory activity to help you get acquainted with the CBTF and its procedures. This activity will take place this week:
- Start Date: Wednesday 6 February
- End Date: Friday 8 February
- Activity Length: 50 minutes
- Credit: 5 Extra Participation points in discussion (this does not take the place of discussion next week)
- Sign-Up: Follow the instructions on the course website to access the CBTF Scheduler: https://courses.physics.illinois.edu/phys102/sp2019/exam-information.html
- Select Add a Class if you haven't done so already:
- You will see the CBTF Introduction available for scheduling. Select make a reservation to reserve a seat.
Exam 1: This activity is required.
Exam 1 will be held the week of 11 Febuary (next week) https://courses.physics.illinois.edu/phys102/sp2019/syllabus.html:
- Start Date: Wednesday 13 February
- End Date: Friday 15 February
- Activity Length: 1 hour 50 minutes
- Credit: Exam 1
- Sign-Up Start Date: 31 January 2019
- Follow the instructions on the course website to access the CBTF Scheduler: https://courses.physics.illinois.edu/phys102/sp2019/exam-information.html
- Follow the same procedure as for the Introductory activity.

flipitPhysics
You will need to get flipitPhysics access and do the first Prelecture and Checkpoint before you go to the first lecture.
- Go to http://flipitphysics.com.
- Click on the Register button, and create an account using your < NetID@illinois.edu > email address
- Complete your profile, then click on the Enrollments Tab
- Click on the Join a Course link and enter UIP102SP19
- Enter your NetID (e.g. whatever is in front of @illinois.edu in your email address) and click Enroll Course
You will need to join a second (FREE) FlipItPhysics class in order to have access to the course lab materials. The instructions below assume you have already signed up for FlipItPhysics as described above.
- Go to http://flipitphysics.com and log into your account, (or if you are already logged in just click the account link at the top).
- Click on the Join a Course link and enter code UIP102SP19_LAB
- Enter your NetID (e.g. whatever is in front of @illinois.edu in your email address) and click Enroll Course
Lecture
Students must be on time and prepared for lecture.
- No credit will be granted to students attending without their iClicker.
- Your iClicker must be working to receive participation credit.
- You must bring your iClicker and note-taking supplies to every lecture, including the first.
- Please register your iClicker in the student gradebook.
- Be sure to refer to the iClicker information page for more information.
Laboratory
Students must be on time and prepared for labs.
- Each student will need an IOLab device (see Required Materials for more details.)
- You will do a hands-on Pre-Lab activity using your IOLab device before every lab, guided by theFlipItPhysics Lab course you signed up for above. In your weekly lab section you will work in groups to design and understand experiments and experimental data, also using your IOLab device.
- You will upload your lab reports to https://my.physics.illinois.edu/courses/upload/.
Discussion
Students must be on time and prepared for discussion.
- Students arriving more than 10 minutes late for discussion will receive a grade of 0% on their quiz.
- For each discussion section (including the first section) you must have your:
- Laptop or tablet
- Paper & writing utensils
- Calculator
Excused Absences
- Please submit your excused absence no later than 12 business days from your absence via the Excused Absences application.
