This course uses the Web extensively. Internet access and a Web browser are required for:
- prelectures, checkpoints, homework (smartPhysics)
- your course grade book
- access to lecture slides and to other course information and notices
Computers with appropriate web browsers are available in Technology Services, Engineering Work Stations and housing division computer labs.

For Lab
- Every student will need to have access an IOLab device. Exceptions will be made for students that are taking the class from a country where IOLab rentals are not available, which is currently any country other than the United States and Canada (students outside of the US and Canada seeking an IOLab for sale may be able, if the so desire, to purchase one and have it shipped to them internationally through the UIUC bookstore).
- To run the IOLab software, students will need to have access to a computer running Windows 8.1 or above or a Mac running OSX 10.13 or above.

- Gladding, Selen & Stelzer Classical Mechanics, W.H. Freeman (this is an inexpensive printed companion to FlipIt Physics, and is suggested but not required).
- Any edition of Tipler's book "Physics for Scientists & Engineers", W.H. Freeman (The Tipler textbook has a website with useful study aids: https://www.macmillanlearning.com/catalog/search.aspx?search=Physics%20for%20Scientists%20%26%20Engineers&sitesearch=1).
