Welcome to Physics 401: Classical Laboratory!
- 04 Nov: The due date for the Torsional Oscillator lab has been delayed one week, to Nov 10-12.
- 13 Oct: Problem Set #2 has been posted to the schedule page. It is due in one week, the evening after your lab section. Again, this will not follow the lab report late policy - no late assignments except by arrangement with instructor.
- 06 Oct: We have posted two data sets for the Millikan oil drop lab on the schedule page: a short data set to use to set up your analysis, and a full data set to use for your full charge analysis. These take the place of the "your group" and "full class" data sets discussed in the writeup.
- 14 Sep: Remember that the Problem Set #1 is due this week, the evening after your lab section. This will not follow the lab report late policy - no late assignments except by arrangement with instructor.
- 14 Sep: We have decided to swap Lab 4 (Pulses in transmission lines) one week later, to the week of Sept. 28th. We will instead have our first lecture on noise and error analysis on Sept. 21st, but no lab that week.
- 08 Sep: Prof. Filippini's supplementary lecture on Fourier analysis is posted on MediaSpace, linked from the course schedule.
Preparing for the first day
- Our first lecture will be held Monday Aug 24, 3:30pm, and will focus on how the course will work this semester. Zoom links are posted here.
- Please read the Course Description and Class Policy before Monday's lecture!
- Lab will meet the first week! Be sure to check which section time you're registered for.
- Check out the Computing Tools page and start preparing some of the basics you'll need:
- Zoom, for lectures and labs
- Campus VPN access, for software and shared data access
- Origin Pro for data analysis (use of other tools is OK, but not as well-supported).
