Course Grading

Your final grade for Physics 404 will be based on the total score from all components of the course. The total possible score is 1000 points.

Course grading will proceed in compliance with University policy as given in Article 3, Part 1 of the Student Code.

Lecture

Attendance to lectures is required, as you will take turns to make mini presentations on circuit analysis during class time. Each presentation should be 10-15 minutes. You should prepare them in advance of the lecture.

Each presentation is worth 10 points. Each student needs to make a minimum of 10 in-class presentations to earn full credit.

To encourage classroom participation, I will award bonus points (5 pts) for each additional presentation you volunteer (beyond the 10 required). There is no cap on the presentation points earned during the lectures, i.e., you can accumulate more than 100 points towards your total score,

Laboratory

There are 4 lab units. The report for each lab unit is graded for completion and accuracy. Each lab report can earn a maximum of 150 pts.

Please submit your Lab reports to Gradescope. Login by selecting the school credential and find University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Late work: I will reduce your raw score by 20% for each day a lab report is late. I will accept late submissions without penalty only if you have asked for permission in advance with valid, reasonable excuses.

Final Project

Instead of a written report, your final project will be graded based on a live-demo of your circuit and an oral presentation. The presentation will be scheduled during the final week.
