Student Projects/Experimental Results
Spring Semester 2001:
1. Wesley Cheong measured the effect of varying the AC line voltage/Heater Voltage on Cathode Current in 12AX7 Tubes.
2. Tony Gallagher built an op-amp based distortion box.
3. Brian Large built a Tweed-Style Deluxe Amp.
4. Jared Mehl built a Solid-State Theremin.
5. Jason Mock carried out some experiments in psychoacoustics/physics of human hearing.
6. Chris Needham also built a Solid-State Theremin.
7. Bill Paine built a "Chimp" Amp - a Champ in a Gorilla Amp Cabinet...
8. Tim Patterson also built a Champ Amp - 5F1 circuit, with a "Woody" style cabinet he made.
9. Piya Poongbunkor used a computer-based DAQ system to investigate the frequency response of various speakers and
measure/determine (some of) the Thiele-Small parameters.
10. Piya Poongbunkor also used a DSP in his ECE320 course to investigate DSP-based audio effects.
11. Patrick Tarantino also built a Solid-State Theremin.
12. Gary Thiakos built an MXR Distortion type fuzz box.
13. Joe Wicks built a "reduced" Princeton 5F2A Amp - using subminiature/pencil tubes!
