Course Grading
Course grading will proceed in compliance with University policy as given in Article 3, Part 1 of the Student Code.
Gradebook
You will be able to view your grades on all components of the course using the course gradebook.
Any discrepancies found in your student gradebook should be brought to the attention of your section instructor immediately.
Grading
Your final grade for Physics 436 will be based upon your total score on all the components of the course. The total possible score is 1000 points.
The percentage conributions are:
Final Exam. 20%
Midterms. 2x10% = 20%
Homework. 45%
Discussion. 10%
iClicker. 5%
Grade Drops
At the end of the course we will drop the lowest grades for one HW, one Discussion Section and four Lecture Participation Scores
EX and ABS scores
Any EX scores you may be assigned in the gradebook will become the average of the non-EX scores you have for that assignment type (for example, homework) during the final grade calculation. EX grades are only assigned for reasons such as sickness and other situations where you are unable to the work.
Any ABS scores will be treated like a 0 score during final grade calculations.
