The topic of this lecture is the characteristic idealized models that allow on to get a feeling for the consequences of electron-electron interactions. In some cases they are close to the real situation and are adequate to demonstrate remarkable consequences from models that can be worked out.

The pdf notes explain more details and Prof.. Martin can provide more detailed hand-written notes to anyone. Homework 4 is designed to illustrate key points. Also this is an important step in understanding the ideas of dynamical mean field theory (DMFT).
