Course Grading
The web-based gradebook will show, for all aspects of the class, exactly how you are progressing. At the end of the course, all components will be put together to obtain the final grade. During the term, you should regularly check that the homework and discussion grades are correctly entered in the gradebook. It is your responsibility to bring any problems with your assigned grades to the attention of your section instructor immediately.
Your final grade for Physics 100 will be based upon your total score on all the components of the course. The total possible score is 1000 points.

Bonus Points: 33 points
You will have an opportunity to earn up to 33 bonus points via the following activities.
- answering iClicker lecture questions correctly
Bonus points will be distributed among to the quest portion of the course when calculating your final score at the end of the semester.
Prelectures
Full credit (5 points) is given for completing each prelecture. The prelectures are evenly weighted.
Checkpoints
Full credit (5 points) is given for completing each checkpoint, up to a maximum of 13 of the 14 checkpoints (55 points maximum). The checkpoints are weighted evenly.
Lectures
Full credit (5 points) is given for answering 75% of the in-class clicker questions, up to a maximum of 11 of the 14 lectures (55 points maximum). In addition, "bonus points" are give for answering in-class clicker questions correctly. These "bonus points" are added to your total Quest score, with the caveat that the total quiz score cannot exceed 200 points.
Homework
Each of the 13 homework sets will be given equal weight and summed to give the total homework score, with a maximum of 150 points.
Discussion Section Participation
Full credit for a discussion section is 20 points. The total discussion section participation grade is the sum of the highest 10 of the 13 discussion section grades.
Quests
Each of the 6 Quests will be given equal weight and summed to give the total Quest score, with a maximum of 200 points. However, bonus points from the lectures are added to this total Quest score with the caveat that the total Quest score cannot exceed 200 points.
Bonus
You earn bonus points for correct answers to clicker questions asked during the lectures. The maximum number of Bonus points you can earn is 33. The 33 points are evenly distributed across the 14 lectures. In the calculation of your final grade, your bonus points are added to your Quest score with the caveat that the total Quest score cannot exceed 200 points.
