Final Exam announcements
Final exam scores are now in gradebook. The raw class mean was 65%; the scaled mean was 75%.
The final exam dates and times for PHYS 102 are as follows:

The final exam will have 45-50 questions and will cover all of the course material cumulatively and evenly.
For Lecture 29, on Wed. Dec. 10, Prof. Chemla will give a review of the course and discuss study tips and practices for the final exam.
Office hours: Prof. Chemla will have open office hours from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Friday (December 12) through Tuesday (December 16) in 161 Loomis.
Dr. Schulte will have office hours from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Wednesday (December 10) through Tuesday (December 16) in 290 Z Loomis.
Dr. Gadway will have office hours in 333 Loomis from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday (December 9) through Monday (December 15), and from 8:00 to 9:00 AM on Tuesday (December 16).
TA Review Sessions:
Karmela Padavic will hold a review session Tuesday (tomorrow) from 3:00 to 4:50 PM in 137 Loomis.

1) Practice exam-like questions are available here. These questions cover all of the course material, but weigh late-semester material (post midterm exam 3) more.
2) An updated formula sheet is available here. Please be aware that a couple of modifications were made since Exam 3.
3) Practice exams from previous semesters are available here. Please be aware that past exams covered different material than this semester. Video solutions to the FA13 Exam 1, 2, and 3 are available on byteshelf. Please review the appropriate problems.
4) Extra optional homework-style questions on late-semester material are available on byteshelf.
4) A review sheet for right hand rules is available here; a review of Lenz's and Faraday's law is here; a review of lens and mirror sign conventions and principal rays is here.
Announcements
The byteshelf system will be unavailable on Monday, November 24 from 4:30 PM to 10:30 PM for a planned outage.
EXAM 3 scores are in gradebook. The raw class mean was 76.3%. No scaling was done to the exam scores.
EXAM 3: A reminder that the third midterm exam will be held Thursday, Nov. 20 from 7:00-8:30pm and will cover material from Lectures 13-21 (Motional EMF – optical instruments), Homework 7-11 (including motional EMF), Discussion 9-12, and Lab 6-7. More information on the exam locations and conflict exams can be found here.
Professor Chemla will hold a review session Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 6-8pm in 141 Loomis Hall. Time permitting, he will go over the following selected problems from past exams: SP13 EXAM 2 #8-9, 15-16, 21-22, 23-25, and SP13 EXAM 3 #3, 7-8, 9-11, 13, 16-23. Please come to the review session having worked through these problems for a more effective review session.
Corrections:
There was an error in one of the online CheckPoints to Lect. 23. The "Binary Suns" problem incorrectly stated that the pinhole should be made smaller; the correct answer is that the pinhole should be made larger (as discussed in lecture). This CheckPoint has now been corrected.
Two students noticed an error on the "apparent depth" slide #22 in Lect. 17. A corrected version of the ppt and pdf are now available on the schedule page.

i>clickers
We will be using i>clickers in every lecture. You can use either the older v1 or the newer v2 i>clickers. If you have not already done so, please register your clicker by visiting https://my.physics.illinois.edu/iclicker/. Having another student answer questions using your clicker is considered cheating.
Excused Absences
The only course components eligible to be issued a grade of EX are discussions, labs and exams (except for the final). Please submit your excused absence no later than 10 business days from your absence via the Excused Absences application. For more information, please read the course description page.
